Responsible Timber

Responsible Timber Good Wood Expo

Promote the trading of forest products of legal and certified origin whilst raising awareness of legal timber and FLEGT licensing.

BVRio developed an online negotiations platform, integrated with a Due Diligence and Risk Assessment system. The platform also as an app version, WoodsApp, making it quicker and more intuitive to access the offers and requests registered by users.

BVRIO has entered into a Key Account Partnership with the Forest Stewardship Council, and has established partnerships in Indonesia and China. BVRio is also a member of the Tropical Forest Alliance.

In 2018, BVRio launched the Good Wood Expo, a roadshow of responsible promotional events which take place around the world. Good Wood Expo promotes timber trade in international markets whilst raising awareness of legal timber and FLEGT licensing. FLEGT licenses automatically meet requirements stipulated by the EUTR.

The best Due Diligence system available for timber from Brazil today

BVRio has developed and makes available to companies and people interested in buying timber, an automated ‘due diligence’ system, which offers a quick and safe assessment of the risk of illegality of timber lots. BVRio's due diligence and risk assessment system makes it simple and easy to track the entire supply chain behind a lot of timber, from the forest to the seller. We help you to reduce the risk of buying illegal timber, meeting the most rigurous timber import laws in Europe and the United States.

The system, currently available only for Brazilian timber, uses a Big Data approach, collecting and analysing information about legality (including the risks of non-compliance with environmental and social requirements in harvesting, processing and transportating stages), inconsistencies in the market chain and other environmental and social aspects (such as embargoes or violations of labor legislation).

The reports resulting from the automated analyses are free and can be obtained directly from the online tool (link below). If you want to expand the scope of the risk assessment, our team will be ready to meet your request, through contributions to the maintenance of the system.

Good Wood Expo

Good Wood Expo is a roadshow of responsible promotional events that hosts talks and exhibitions to promote the trade of legal timber.

The Expo creates markets for responsible timber from Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) countries by raising awareness about the importance of the legality of timber and the benefits of the VPA-FLEGT process, as well as helping to connect buyers and sellers of legal and certified products. The previous edition was held in Indonesia and had over 200 visitors.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, we regret to inform our visitors that we will cancel the next Good Wood Expo. The Expo would have been held in June 2020, in Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo. The goal of the GWE - Republic of Congo was to promote the trade of legal timber from the Central African sub-region to international markets. We will keep you informed about the next Good Wood Expo. Visit the GWE website for details about the next Good Wood Expo.
