BVRio and the Brazilian Society for Ecological Restoration (SOBRE) launched today the latest version of the <\/span>\u2018Vitrine da Restaura\u00e7\u00e3o\u2019<\/span><\/i>, a national platform that brings together data, practitioners, and restoration services to support the recovery of degraded areas and help advance the implementation of Brazil\u2019s Forest Code. The launch took place during the 1st State Meeting on the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) and Environmental Regularisation Programme (PRA) at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro.<\/span><\/p>\n

The update comes at a pivotal moment for Brazil\u2019s environmental agenda. States are making progress in processing the mandatory registry for all rural properties, and in putting regularisation programmes into operation, which define how degraded areas must be restored, how native vegetation should be recovered, and how legal mechanisms such as Legal Reserve compensation can be used.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe <\/span>Vitrine<\/span><\/i> has become a strategic tool for Brazil\u2019s environmental policy by providing unprecedented visibility over the restoration supply chain. With this level of information, governments can plan more effectively, funders can identify credible projects, and businesses working in the sector can access new opportunities. It connects those looking to invest with those capable of delivering results on the ground, bringing more efficiency and scale to restoration efforts nationwide.\u201d Roberta del Giudice, BVRio Director of Forests and Public Policy.<\/span><\/p>\n

With a more intuitive layout and a significantly expanded database, the platform enables users to add their restoration initiatives, identify priority restoration areas, locate nurseries and seed collectors, find service providers, and map ongoing projects. The Vitrine consolidates a wide range of information, supporting public managers, landowners, technical organisations and investors, and creating the conditions needed to deliver the National Restoration Plan (Planaveg) 2025\u20132028 and achieve Brazil\u2019s goal of restoring 12 million hectares by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

This territorial perspective, which BVRio understands so well, helped us define the filters, categories and prioritisation logic of the platform. The initiative was developed with technical and financial support from PlanaFlor, a project coordinated by BVRio and FBDS with support from the Government of Norway. PlanaFlor works with the Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) and federal ministries to validate priority restoration areas, strengthen regulations, and improve the governance of environmental regularisation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Integrating geospatial data, local capacity and on-the-ground actors, the new Vitrine da Restaura\u00e7\u00e3o becomes a key tool for unlocking projects, informing public policy, and linking restoration efforts to opportunities in the low-carbon economy, including payments for ecosystem services (PES), Forest Reserve Credits (CRA) and forest carbon initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n
