The first Kolekt Exchange Certificate (KXC) has been issued in Mozambique, by the country\u2019s largest recycler, and long term Kolekt partner, <\/span>Topack<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The unique <\/span>Certificate<\/span><\/a> is verified proof that Topack has purchased, processed and sold 247 tonnes of post consumer PET. It is now available to buy, in full or part, in the <\/span>Kolekt Exchange<\/span><\/a>, launched in November 2025 by BVRio Group company Kolekt. The innovative marketplace has already seen certificates generated in Indonesia and Nepal, and is expected to soon also offer certificates for Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Kenya, and Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kolekt Exchange platform offers Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) producers based in the country with a traceable and financially efficient solution to meet the government\u2019s impending Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulation targets. It also offers FMCG\u2019s not based in Mozambique the opportunity to take full responsibility voluntarily for the collection and recycling of material equivalent to that which they place on the market, in Mozambique, or any other country where they sell goods leading to packaging waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

The truly special thing about this certificate is that because Topack also uses our Kolekt app to manage its buying, e<\/span>very single kilo purchased can unequivocally be traced back to an unbanked waste picker with no phone, who Topack has paid more than the national minimum wage to.<\/span> For businesses with a waste footprint who have a desire to do more for the countries they operate in, than simply mitigate, this is the way to do it. \u201cBy issuing Kolekt Certificates we hope to be able to further develop our recycling operations, purchasing plastics more than 2000 km away in Mozambique\u2019s northern provinces, increasing capacity and continuing to support the informal waste sector through better wages and guaranteed sales.\u201d <\/span>Tiago Cepeda, Topack\u2019s Recycling Director.<\/b><\/p>\n

The certificate, for the collection of plastics, is now on sale for USD 150 per tonne (<\/span>here<\/span><\/a>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The buyer will receive proof of purchase, a PDF and a QR code connected to the digital proof on the Kolekt Exchange, which can be used on company publications, brochures or even product packaging.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
