BVRio participates in the restart of the Fórum Florestal Fluminense

BVRio Director of Forestry and Public Policy, Beto Mesquita, joined the re-start of the Fórum Florestal Fluminense (FFF) this month, one of the ten regional forums of the Forest Dialogue, an initiative which brings together environmentalists, researchers, indigionous peoples, and companies from the forest-based sector.

Very active between 2007 and 2013, the FFF was essential to unlock the legislation that regulates forest production activity in the state (economic forestry) and also played a relevant role in the forest restoration agenda. With the resumption of the forum, the idea is that these agendas are part of the state’s economic recovery strategy.

For Beto Mesquita, who has represented BVRio in the Forest Dialogue Coordination Council since 2018, and is collaborating with the resumption, the return of the Forum is an excellent opportunity to build sustainable alternatives for the full use of the state’s potential for forest development.

The meeting is being promoted by the Professional Association of Forest Engineers of the State of Rio de Janeiro (APEFERJ), Embrapa Agrobiology, Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN), and Secretary of State for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS), with support from the Executive Secretariat of Forest Dialogue.
