BVRio opens a channel for queries on Environmental Reserve Quotas (CRAs) to support market implementation in Brazil

BVRio has launched a new online form for questions about the Forest Reserve Credits (CRAs) market, aimed at expanding access to reliable information and supporting the implementation of this instrument in Brazil.

With recent progress in government action to issue CRAs, demand for technical information and practical guidance on the topic has been growing. In response, BVRio has created this channel to gather and organise the market’s main questions and to help guide the development of content, analysis and tools to support CRA implementation.

The initiative was presented by Roberta del Giudice, BVRio’s Director of Forests and Public Policies, during a webinar hosted by Diálogo Florestal on the implementation of CRAs in Brazil. As a member of the network, BVRio contributes to strengthening dialogue across the different sectors engaged in the forest agenda.

“Recurring questions help show where the market still lacks clarity and guidance. By opening this channel, BVRio reinforces its commitment to building practical, evidence-based solutions that support the effective implementation of the Forest Code”. Said Roberta.

Since its founding in 2011, BVRio has worked to develop market mechanisms that support the implementation of Brazil’s Forest Code and has frequently been approached by stakeholders seeking reliable information on the subject. Over nearly 15 years, the organisation has helped advance the CRA market and strengthen recognition of this instrument as a strategic tool for protecting native vegetation and valuing environmental assets.

“CRAs are a strategic tool for forest conservation in Brazil, turning standing forests into environmental assets. Since the Forest Code was approved, we have been actively working to promote and support the implementation and use of this mechanism.” Said Mauricio de Moura Costa, founder of BVRio.

A channel to support market development

The new form invites landowners, researchers, public officials and other interested stakeholders to submit their questions. Each submission will be reviewed and categorised, and the contributions received will help identify patterns and knowledge gaps, guide the development of technical guidance and explanatory materials, and support the creation of FAQs, thematic webinars and other tools aimed at strengthening market implementation.
