BVRio elected to the National Coordination Council of Diálogo Florestal

BVRio has been elected to join the National Coordination Council of ‘Diálogo Florestal, the body responsible for shaping the initiative’s strategy and guiding, monitoring and supporting its work. The election took place from 5 to 15 December, through a peer vote among the civil society organisations within the Diálogo Florestal membership.

The new mandate began on 1 January 2026. BVRio will be represented by Roberta del Giudice, Director of Forests and Public Policy (Council member), and Daniela Pires Albuquerque, Legal Manager (alternate). The Council’s first meeting in 2026 is expected to take place in February.

BVRio’s election in 2026 builds on its ongoing technical and institutional contribution to Diálogo Florestal in recent years. “In this new cycle, we are particularly keen to work closely with the regional forums and with the national coordination of Diálogo Florestal, helping to advance solutions grounded in multi-stakeholder dialogue that can deliver greater scale, effectiveness and impact across Brazil’s forest agenda.” Roberta del Giudice.

Since 2018, BVRio has supported Diálogo Florestal’s governance and technical agenda, helping strengthen collaborative approaches to conservation, responsible production and implementation of the Forest Code. This engagement gained further momentum from 2021 onwards, with BVRio actively involved in the steps that established the Amazon Forest Forum, including the process that led to the launch of its strategic plan. Over the same period, BVRio also took part in the relaunch of the Rio de Janeiro State Forest Forum, contributing to discussions and proposals linked to restoration and to strengthening reforestation policy in the state.

“In recent years, BVRio has deepened its technical work across Forest Code implementation, environmental compliance and ecological restoration, while also strengthening cooperation with states and the federal government to accelerate delivery of public policies and programmes on the ground.” Daniela Pires Albuquerque.

In 2024, BVRio contributed to a publication in partnership with Dialogo on Environmental Regularisation Programmes (PRAs) and pathways to accelerate Forest Code implementation, supporting informed debate and the dissemination of practical, applied knowledge. The publication highlighted initiatives such as PlanaFlor and monitoring tools that help connect states, public policy and delivery in the field.

Established in 2005, Diálogo Florestal is a multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together businesses, civil society organisations, researchers and other actors to develop solutions for forest production, conservation and restoration, through regional forums and national governance spaces.

BVRio is honoured to join the Council alongside Apremavi, a national reference in restoration and conservation, and Mater Natura, working together to strengthen Diálogo Florestal’s governance from this year onwards. BVRio reiterates its commitment to an agenda built on high-quality dialogue and collective action across sectors and territories, linking Forest Code implementation with sustainable development.
