Earthshot Prize inaugural awards date announced

The inaugural Earthshot Prize awards will be held on October 17, hosted in London at Alexandra Palace and broadcast on BBC One, it was announced today. BVRio was honored to be an Official Nominator, one of over 100 organisations from across the world who were asked to submit nominations across all five Earthshots.

In a short film featuring the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, shot at Alexandra Palace, he announced that the event will “unveil five global prize winners and their game changing solutions to repair our planet.”

Broadcast to a global audience, the inaugural awards ceremony will celebrate the incredible global Finalists before awarding the first five winners of The Earthshot Prize. These winning solutions will have the greatest impact on the biggest environmental challenges facing our planet and each awardee will receive £1 million to scale their solutions.

Prince William said: “By hosting COP26 conference in Glasgow just weeks after our inaugural awards, the UK is helping lead the world in tackling climate change. London is a fantastic location to showcase this leadership, spotlight the finalists and award our very first Earthshot Prize winners. The awards ceremony will be a truly global event, connecting people from all over the world to celebrate these inspiring leaders and their innovations to solve the world’s greatest environmental challenges.”
